In July of 2007, the Benson Police Department, and concerned residents of the Town, partnered together to form the Benson Community Watch Program. This program encourages residents and visitors to contact the Police Department if they see suspicious people in their area, suspicious activities taking place, or if things "just don't seem right" to them.
The first neighborhood to form a Community Watch chapter was at the Hedges Apartments, on North Ryals Street, and additional chapters have been established. Community Watch signs were purchased and installed by the Police Department, and Community Watch decals were also bought, for display by supporters of the program..
The Police Department enthusiastically supports the Benson Community Watch Program, because we know our officers can't be everywhere, all the time. We also understand that Town residents know their neighborhoods better than we do, and they would be the first to notice someone, or something out of place. We need your help to keep Benson a wonderful place to live, work, and play...
If you would like information about forming a Community Watch chapter in your neighborhood, or you would like a sign or decal, please contact Officer Shannon Hodges at 919-894-2091, or by using this form.
You may also use this form to report suspicious activity, request increased patrols in your neighborhood, or simply pass along information. You may remain anonymous if you so choose.
